Unlike the world, we, as Christians, Walk the Narrow Path. Here are some articles and poems to give you some encouragement in your walk.
At all times tell the truth;
Let no lie defile thy mouth.
If thou'rt wrong, be still the same--
Speak the truth and bear the blame.
Truth is honest, truth is sure;
Truth is strong and must endure;
Falsehood lasts a single day,
Then it vanishes away.
At all times tell the truth,
Let no lie defile thy mouth;
Truth is steadfast, sure, and fast--
Certain to prevail at last.
This poem was found in With Pen and Pencil, a "Primary School" penmanship book, published and copywritten in 1906. It has been a true joy to hold in my hand a book of this age, and read the lessons which children a hundred years ago labored over.
If you woke up this morning
with more health than illness,
you are more blessed than the
million who won't survive the week.
If you have never experienced
the danger of battle,
the loneliness of imprisonment,
the agony of torture or
the pangs of starvation,
you are ahead of 20 million people
around the world.
If you attend a church meeting
without fear of harassment,
arrest, torture, or death,
you are more blessed than almost
three billion people in the world.
If you have food in your refrigerator,
clothes on your back, a roof over
your head and a place to sleep,
you are richer than 75% of this world.
If you have money in the bank,
in your wallet, and spare change
in a dish someplace, you are among
the top 8% of the world's wealthy.
If your parents are still married and alive,
you are very rare,
especially in the United States.
If you hold up your head with a smile
on your face and are truly thankful,
you are blessed because the majority can,
but most do not.
If you can hold someone's hand, hug them
or even touch them on the shoulder,
you are blessed because you can
offer God's healing touch.
If you can read this message,
you are more blessed than over
two billion people in the world
that cannot read anything at all.
You are so blessed in ways
you may never even know.
The girls that are wanted are good girls—
Girls that are mothers right hand,
That fathers and brothers can trust in,
And little ones can understand.
Girls that are fair on the hearthstone,
Pleasant when nobody sees;
Kind and sweet to their own folk,
Ready and anxious to please.
Girls that are wanted are wise girls,
That know what to do and to say;
That drive with a smile or soft word
The wrath of the household away.
The girls that are wanted are good girls—
Good from the heart to the lips;
Pure as the lily is white and pure
From it’s heart to it’s sweet leaf tips.

O Lord, keep my heart:
For I am just human,
and weakness cometh upon me.
Let me not take mine heart back again,
but keep it until your man cometh.
Shield me from the world my Father,
and let not Satan into me.
Save me from mine enemies.
Lead me through life’s storms:
Guide me through the waves
until my anchor holds
on the other shore to rest eternally.
